Ode to you Basketball
I write an ode to you basketball
That goes so high and has to fall
With a size and diameter so small
Used in games that end in a brawl
You have no say in where you go
You echo and bounce all off the ground
And make a swoosh off the net
Only the one that shoots you will know
The boom of your sound
That no one will forget.
I wrote my ode to a basketball. I decided to write about a basketball because I enjoy shooting hoops and messing around. I agree that my rhyming is very bad. I am not the next Eminem. I decided to write an ode to a basketball that has no appreciation or respect.
I feel like my ode and Keats are very different. Keats writes about an ode to this mystical object while I write my ode to a basketball. I show my respect for something that I use while Keats shows respect for an object he admires.

Returning to Tintern Abbey
Tintern Abbey is a place where this man feels one with nature. He describes it as a sothing place where he would go as a child. Throughout this poem he describes Tintern Abbey. He talks about how he is still spiritually connected to Tintern and Abbey even when he is alone or in the busy city. Thinking of Titern Abbey is what gets him through the day. Whenever he thinks of the cottageds or the landscape he is at peace and harmony. Overall i think this passage relates to everyone. Everyone has that place they go to or think about for peace and calmness. My friends and I all hang at my friends stram that goes through his yard. We would always climb the trees and rocks when we were younger. Now we just go there sometimes to relax or explore. I hope that this place will alwyas be close to me. I know that if i am ever not at ease i can just go there to get away from life.
Innocence and Experience and Fighting Social Injustice
After watching the video that Mrs. Ring showed us and reading the article in class I feel like I’ve learned alot about social injustice. I had no clue that kids were beeing treated so poorly. Stealing kids and druging them and giving them weaponbs is just gross. I mean these kids are only like 8 and 10 and they are being taught how to kill. My little sister is 8 and i couldn’t imagine her being made into a killing machine. I definetly feel bad for the kid in the video Mrs. Ring showed us. Being used as an example and getting body parts cutt of is just sad. I hope that these kids all get help.
My Hometown
In class we listened to the song “My Hometown” by Bruce Springsteen. In his song he describes this place that he loved to go to. He notices that with age he started to forget about his hometown. The place started to mean less to him. This relates to me because my friends and I all goes to this creek where the water falls from these rocks for the past 5 years. The sound of rushing water and the beautiful site has made this place our hangout. I hope that this place will always be close to me and that it won’t change. This place hopefully will mean as much to me in the future as it does now. Also we started to watch a movie during class about this family that is giving up technology, trash, and much more. So far it seems like the dad is the one who cares more than the mom. I am excited to watch more and see what happens.
This will take you to a technology site for you who want to stay current in the news of technology. Check it out.
Sonnet
We all use a television, radio, computer, or I-phone,
Because we think they are needed,
Without them, many of us would moan,
And the earth would get a little heated.
Technology can be good,
But technology can be bad,
Only if we understood,
A little more than a tad.
We need to understand how technology is created today
Like in sweatshops, with hard labor little pay.
I decided to write a sonnet about Technology / humans. My goal in my sonnet was to show the attention where little attention if any is shown. We all understand that we created technology like the Iphone and so forth, but do we know how this technology is created. I read an article in the Wired magazines that described the sweatshops and terrible working conditions of these workers that make the I-phone. The title of the article was. Is it my I-Phone that has cause 17 suicides in the past year. The article describes that in the past year, 17 workers in the Rotflex company in China have committed suicide. Researchers have noticed that netting across the Rotflex building has been established due to these events. Many workers work tedious long hours with little pay and small breaks. This is why I wrote a sonnet on how technology is being made. This relates with Wordsworth’s poetry because Wordsworth explains that we are out of date with nature. The reason these sweatshops are created is because many people want this technology instead of being one with nature.
